Etymology. Pali ta (that) is the neuter form of the demonstrative pronoun, descended from PIE *to- (that one). Cognates: English that, the, German das, Sanskrit tat. The feminine plural tā adds the inherited feminine plural ending -ā; the same form appears in Greek hai (feminine plural of the article), Latin eae.
