Etymology. Root √kam, 'to move, go'; cognate with Latin comāre 'to come together', Greek κάμνω (kámnō) 'to work, toil' (where motion and effort converge). The verb belongs to the Indo-European root *ḱem- 'to move, go', which also appears in English 'come'.
